Prior to founding Acacia
Investigations, Mr. Nattrass served as an Electronics Technician in the
United States Navy, Submarine Service. After his Navy enlistment, he
joined the Connecticut State Police and retired after a twenty year
career as Commanding Officer of the Bureau of Investigations and
Enforcement of the Office of State Fire Marshal. During his years in
the Office of State Fire Marshal, Mr. Nattrass supervised the Training
and Fire Analysis Unit, which was responsible for the training and
certification of all Fire Marshals and the gathering and analysis of all
fire data in the State. He also supervised the Fire Investigation Unit
and personally investigated over 800 major fires or explosions
throughout the state as a member of that Unit.
After his public sector
career, Mr. Nattrass was employed as a Nuclear Security investigator and
worked as a fire and fraud investigator for two major insurance
companies.
Mr. Nattrass has received
many awards and commendations for his investigative work including the
Connecticut State Police Meritorious Service Award for the arrest and
conviction of a serial arsonist. He was certified by the State of
Connecticut as a Fire Marshal/Fire Investigator and continually exceeds
the training hours necessary to maintain that certification.
He has a Bachelor of
Science degree, Cum Laude from the University of New Haven in Criminal
Justice Administration and has received additional training at several
Universities throughout the United States. He has attended the FBI
Academy and the National Fire Academy and has been an instructor in the
field of law enforcement and fire investigation in both the public and
private sector. Mr. Nattrass was licensed by the State of Connecticut
as an Insurance Claim Adjuster and holds the designation of Fraud Claim
Law Specialist.
Mr. Nattrass is active in
many professional organizations including the International Association
of Arson Investigators and served as President of the Connecticut
Chapter. He is also a member of the Connecticut Association of Auto
Theft and Arson Investigators, a life member of the Connecticut Fire
Marshals Association and member of the Connecticut State Police Academy
Alumni Association. He was a charter member of the Connecticut Fire
Safety Poster Committee and served on the Connecticut Arson Tip Award
Committee.
Mr. Nattrass directs the
operations of Acacia Investigations.
